Planning consultant Allen Grimwood from the Moruya-based company Zenith Planning met with relevant stakeholders including representatives of the incorporated community group, Eden’s Australasia, on Wednesday last week.
The DA will address the intended clean-up of the building and grounds of the Eden landmark.
It will also detail external works including the restoration of the facade, the demolition of recent extensions to the original structure and internal renovations and structural improvements.
Eden’s Australasia president Peter Whiter welcomed last week’s meeting: “It was great to meet with council staff and Allen Grimwood and get an update and idea from them as to a process from here.”
“We at Eden’s Australasia are moving into the fundraising stage and getting our labour force mobilised at the working bee level for now and soon at the tradesmen level,” Mr Whiter said.
Mayor Michael Britten confirmed in July that council had set aside $1 million for the hotel – $550,000 of which was spent on acquiring the building, with a further $450,000 set aside for demolition and renovation work.
Mr Grimwood – a current member of the Far South Coast Committee of Regional Development Australia and former member of Southern Joint Regional Planning Panel – lists heritage management as one of his areas of expertise.
