It seems that, however we receive news of local, state, national or international events, there is a real challenge to find The Good News.
A friend commented to me the other day, “It’s bad news that sells, not good news.”
If you and I become disheartened about the state of our world and the people who live here, just try and think about what must be going through God’s heart, as these terrible events take place and are reported to so many people just so very quickly.
This makes the eternal truth of God’s plan of salvation through the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus such a wonderful and timeless good news story. But, it’s more than just a story, it’s a demonstration of the limitless love of God for all those He’s created.
The Apostle John, one of Jesus’ closest friends during His life on earth wrote the following, “And God showed His love for us by sending His only Son into the world, so that we might have life through Him. This is what love is: not that we have loved God, but He loved us and sent His Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven ... For God did not send His Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its Saviour.”
In this world filled with so much bad news, this message of Good News, of being able to experience peace with God through His Son, Jesus, just becomes more and more pertinent and obviously necessary.
As Christians, we can experience the comfort of the reality of this Good News, let’s not stop sharing it with those we meet.
