Only three Eden residents attended the free anti water fluoridation information night in the Eden Fishermen’s Club last Wednesday May 11, and leading campaigner and local dentist Dr Maria Claudianos is left perplexed by what she describes as ‘apathy’ in the community.

“The three women who did attend were very concerned about the possibility of fluoride being placed into the water supplies,” Dr Claudianos said.
“They were appalled at the lack of interest by local rate payers in Eden and became very proactive toward writing to the local member and associated contacts.”
The awareness-raising campaign, spear headed by Dr Claudianos of Merimbula’s Beach Street Dental Clinic, aimed to provoke discussion about the contentious issue, with information nights including short documentaries presented in Bega, Tathra and Merimbula over the past month, with low attendance at each.
