As such, Yachting Australia is committed to supporting projects that will provide safety and improved faculties for its stakeholders.
Yachting Australia and Australian and New Zealand boaters generally have taken a keen interest in the development of the Snug Cove marina project in recent years.
Owing to its key location and deep water access, the 190 berth Snug Cove Marina has the potential to achieve the aims of Yachting Australia in southern NSW and East Gippsland to a very significant extent.
As Eden is effectively the only deep water port for recreational vessels between Sydney and Melbourne/northern Tasmania, its strategic value for the growing boating community is very high.
There is also strong local demand for boating infrastructure in south east NSW as evidenced by the success of similar projects in Bermagui and Batemans Bay.
Yachting Australia believes that this project has the potential to make a positive impact on the local economy by encouraging increased visitation and opportunities for the development of the recreational boating industry in the area.
Yachting Australia is most concerned that the berthing capacity of this project now appears to be at risk of being reduced substantially which will impact the financial viability of the project.
This will come as a major disappointment to recreational boaters who may wish to fish or sail through or in southern NSW waters.
Yachting Australia requests that plans for Snug Cove be reviewed to ensure that a full scale marina can be constructed within the overall development of the port.

SEFE sale fails workers
After having worked at SEFE for 27 years I was saddened by the "sale" process for SEFE and the treatment of the employees there.
It seems apparent now that the whole process was just done to de-unionise the site and get rid of the wages and conditions that the employees had won over many years of negotiation .
They had fair wages and conditions as a result of their union and the employees working hard to get fair conditions.
At least they got fair redundancy when they were finished up, which the staff would have got as well .
Shame about the staff members being re-employed at their old rates of pay but none of the wages employees have been re-employed.
I believe that they will only be offered a rate of pay 30 per cent less then their old pay rates.
That is if they are offered a job.

Government we deserve
First, Tony Abbott gave us “government by shirtfront” as he beat up on pensioners, the poor, the dispossessed and the sick.
Though, for all that, he still did not manage to lay a glove on Vladimir Putin.
Now we have Malcolm (I’m not Tony Abbott) Turnbull giving us “government by thought bubble” as he tried to surreptitiously increase taxes by having the states do it for him.
He has also given us “government by sleight of hand” as everything which was “on the table” has mysteriously vanished from that same table.
It is often said that we get the government we deserve.
The question is; “what have we done to deserve this”?
