The pair joined up with Bega’s own Australian representative Kezie Apps to help run a special footy boot camp.
Timmins and Cooper are both former players for the St George Illawarra Dragons and have kept up roles promoting the NRL and helping with skills programs.
Forty kids were selected at random from entries run by the Power FM radio station to take part.
Bega NRL development officer Damian Kennedy took the reins as coach for the day and led the kids through a series of skill drills.
He was ably assisted by development staff and Group 16 representative coaches Dax Kelly and Bernie Maher.
The three representative players shared some of their knowledge with the entrants and even went head-to-head in some challenges.
Local league identity Jason Whitby and his son Josh were delighted to meet the pair and stop for a chat.
The pair said they were enjoying their visit, and the weather.
“It’s beautiful in the sun, a great day to be at the beach if you ask me,” Timmins said before the session.
Meanwhile, Cooper said he enjoyed meeting fans and keeping up appearances for the NRL.
Organisers were happy with the response and plans are underway for next year.
