When I first read the letter, 'Homosexuals have hijacked the sanctity of marriage', Eden Magnet, August 20, 2015, I was somewhere between angered and confused.

I truly understand that people have the right to their own opinions but I also feel that some people are being closed minded about the same sex marriage topic.
Why can't two people who love each other get married despite their genders?
A point that I would like to raise is a quote from the letter, "children should be brought up in a natural environment where possible they can experience the love and nurturing of both a mother and father."
Okay, so firstly and most importantly, just because a child has a mother and father does not mean that they are in a loving environment.
Secondly, what classifies as a "natural" environment?
Does that mean that there is a family run by heterosexual parents where the mother stays at home and looks after the kids while the father goes to work to earn money?
Because the way they were talking in this letter suggests that they're living in the 1950s and gives the impression of exactly that.
I think that letters such as 'Homosexuals are hijackers' pull us back into the past.
It is time for this community to see what is going on around us and understand that what is going on in the homosexual community in accordance to same sex marriage is simply just a human right and not a world wide agenda.
Being gay is not a choice but who a person is.
People of the homosexual community undoubtedly deserve equality in the terms of their way of life.
Love is love people, get on board.
