As I was driving home from Sydney one night last week, in the dark, I was so grateful for the way the other drivers on the road were obeying the road rule of driving on the left hand side of the road.

As we know all too well, on some of the sections of the Highway there isn’t a lot of room on the verges of the highway.
If, as drivers, we couldn’t rely on our fellow travellers to,”..keep to the left..”, our journeys on the road would be so tense and we’d be so worn out when we finally reach our destination.
Driving home, after a demanding week, the thought came to me how our journeys through life, and the lives of those on the road of life with us, can be made so much more bearable if we all took notice of the summary of God’s plan purposes Jesus used in the preamble to the parable of The Good Samaritan.
We read in the Gospel of Luke of an occasion when Jesus was asked by an expert in the law about how to live in such a way as to inherit eternal life.
The conversation in which Jesus engaged, affirmed the expert’s summary of, “ …Love the Lord your God with all your passion, prayer, muscle and intelligence—and love your neighbour as yourself.”
If we all live In such a way that we carry on our lives with; A right image of God and a right image ourselves we can then have a right image of our neighbour and the ways our lives should interact.
If we live this way there will be a very wonderful reduction in the tension that might exist as we make our way through life.
Jesus’ words, to the expert, apply just the same to us today.
Let’s keep learning what these right images should be and put them into action in our lives.
