Recently relocating from Finland, the young general practitioner has travelled from the other side of the globe in search of a new challenge.
And he looks set to stay.
Dr Kallinen joined the professional ranks at Curalo Medical Clinic this week and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in general practice.
“Before this, I was working back in Finland as a general practitioner,” Dr Kallinen said.
“It was a logical choice to move here.
I decided I wanted to leave Finland and I was attracted to the climate, the people and the culture.”
After completing his degree in 2010, the young graduate chose not to specialise, instead he prefers to work across the board with a range of presentations.
“I really prefer to work with the whole spectrum, anything from paediatrics to geriatrics. I didn’t want to exclude anything,” Dr Kallinen said.
The modest doctor possesses a very important skill befitting Australian sun worshipers.
“You could say I’m good with skin changes,” Dr Kallinen said.
“I guess a distinction is I’m younger and have the latest information.”
Principal at Curalo Medical Clinic, Dr Don Reed, believes the new recruit has a lot to offer their already well established practice.
“He has five years experience, he completed his training in 2010 and has also completed extra training in general surgery,” Dr Reed said.
“He also has experience with ear, nose and throat [problems].”
The arrival of Dr Kallinen looks to fulfil the clinics strategy to keep the clinic up to date and invigorated.
“He strengthens our practice and refreshes us," Dr Reed said.
We like to focus on renewal at our practice and he fits the bill perfectly.”
