The Eden Services and Social Club Inc (Essci) is constructing the 270-metre path, which will stretch from the Eden cenotaph on Calle Calle Street to the RSL Hall, and hopes to have it complete in time for the centenary of ANZAC in April.
Member for Eden-Monaro, Dr Peter Hendy, announced the $10,000 grant under the ANZAC Centenary Local Grants program on Friday.
The announcement comes on the back of more recent donations to the project as part of the ClubGRANTS scheme, including $2500 from the Eden Fishermen’s Club and $2000 from the Eden Lioness Club.
“The Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program enables our local community to support commemorations at the local level by giving them the opportunity to secure funding for projects that preserve the stories of local servicemen and women for generations to come,” Dr Hendy said.
“These grants will complement the wider series of commemorative activities that have been developed throughout our electorate.
“I welcome the recognition from the Coalition Government of our electorate’s efforts in recognising those that have served our nation nearly 100 years ago.”
Across the country, $125,000 has been made available to each federal electorate for community and ex-service groups to spend on commemorative programs, with a high number of applications received from across Australia.
On top of other local grants earlier this year, the Wolumla Memorial Gates Re-dedication Trust also received $1500 in the latest round to construct a 2mx8m concrete path leading to a lone pine, and bordered with rosemary shrubs.
The ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Program is a key element of the Coalition Government’s ANZAC Centenary program.
