About $6000 was raised on the night to purchase a portable ultrasound machine.
Renowned singer Marina Prior visited from Melbourne to perform at the fundraiser at the Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club.
Gala night organiser Daryl Dobson said the performance was absolutely beautiful.
“Over 300 people attended,” he said.
“The hospital desperately needs the machine which is worth around $30,000.
“It’s not cheap, but the hospital auxiliary is working hard to raise the money for the useful piece of equipment.”
Mr Dobson said fundraising for the ultrasound machine will continue at the Pambula Motorfest later in the year.
“It was a wonderful night and I’d like to thank our major sponsors Eden Motor Group and Eden Gas & Gear,” he said.
Bega Valley Shire councillor Sharon Tapscott was a guest and major sponsor as a co-owner Eden Gas & Gear and said the night was a hoot.
“It was marvellous,” she said.
“We had a sell-out crowd – the whole venue was given over to the event and it was packed.
“[Marina Prior] has the most beautiful voice. She was just incredible. I’ve never heard something so beautiful.”
Clr Tapscott said the entire audience was captivated by the performance.
“We were so lucky to have that kind of international class entertainment in our neck of woods,” she said.
“She appeared to really enjoy being here as well and did say on number of occasions she would love to live here – so we may have to drag her back from Melbourne again.”
Pambula Hospital Auxiliary secretary and publicity officer Barbara Davy said in five years of service, Saturday’s gala night was the largest fundraiser they’ve had.
“We’ve had a huge amount of support from clubs and the community and we are most grateful,” she said.
“Without that support the auxiliary would not be able to provide the equipment we have for the hospital.”
The Pambula Hospital Auxiliary will now get ready for the Motor Festival on Sunday, September 28.
