Coach Debbie Heron said the team was eager to get in front early.
“Eden won the toss and dominated possession early with a blustery Sou’wester at their backs,” Heron said.
“It wasn’t long before left back Kate Mitchell let rip with a cracking shot from 40 metres which left the Wolumla keeper stranded.”
Eden had put the first dent on the scoreboard and looked to consolidate its efforts.
“Forwards Amber Seckold and Shyanne Walker were menacing up front and boosted their fitness levels running onto some great balls through Eden’s midfield,” Heron said.
“However, shots flew wide or straight to the Tigers keeper.”
Heron said it was the combination of long-range sisters Kate and Mel wreaking havoc on the day.
“It took a Mitchell specialty to bring about Eden’s second,” Heron said.
“Centre-mid Mel Mitchell put a beautiful cross onto the boot of twin sister Kate.
“Kate made no mistake in securing her second with a cracking volley David Beckham would’ve been proud of.”
Eden continued to control the match with Tayla Grant, Lee Harris, Jaimie Christensen and new recruit, with speed to burn, Jemma Danvers working tirelessly out wide.
However, it was Wolumla who pegged one back on the counter-attack.
The Tigresses broke through Eden’s typically rock solid defence of Bhud Clark, Kim Peters and Cyndi Clark to beat an advancing Kamilla Grubesic with a well taken goal.
Wolumla battled on despite struggling with injuries.
However, when their striker received two yellow cards for dissent and was sent from the field, the Killer Whales knew it was just a matter of time before they put the game beyond doubt.
Kim Peters, Clark, Seckold, Mitchell and Heron all went close to scoring, but it was Grubesic switching from goalkeeper to goal scorer.
“She calmly slotted the ball into the net within minutes of taking the field,” Heron said.
Players’ player went to Kate Mitchell for her two goals.
Meanwhile, sisters Tayla Grant and Jemma Danvers proved their worth in both attack and defence and also featured highly in the votes.
This Mother’s Day Sunday sees Eden strong favourites against Bemboka at Eden.
Kickoff is 2.40pm.
Heron said there will be a full day of soccer with games starting at 9am.
“The newly re-formed Eden reserve grade men will be looking to back up their win from last weekend over Tathra taking on Bemboka at 1.30pm,” she said.
