While betting is the name of the game, punters proved generous in offering donations to the charity, which provides assistance to Australian families who are suffering after the death of a family member during or after their defence force service.
Owen O'Neill and Chris Farrell took control of proceedings, with Maree O'Neill and Barry Ellis manning the till.
Maree said the amount raised was an improvement on recent years.
“Two years ago the power went out, so weren’t able to hold the game, and last year we raised somewhere in the $600 or $700 region,” she said.
“We had some very generous donations; one particular guy came up to me before we even started and said ‘This is for Legacy, that’s why we’re here’.
“Later on, he came back and said, ‘I’m doing well, this is for Legacy’, and gave me the same amount again.”
The game itself was an interesting one, with headspinners hard to come by.
Barry Ellis was the only spinner to manage five straight headspins, with three coins used to ensure there was a result on every spin.
“Headspinners were well down on previous years, so it was a surprising game in that regard,” Maree said.
“But there were a few winners and a few losers as always, and it was all played in good spirits.”
