Interest in next week’s free Business Building Skills expo in Bega is mounting fast with a range of local businesses and government organisations signed up for the event.
Bega Valley Shire Council’s Business Growth Co-ordinator, Bob McAlister, said the expo was a response to local demand for skills development as a key factor in sustaining future growth.
“This expo will give them the opportunity to link up and skill up,” he said.
“The 42 Government, not-for-profit and local service providers exhibiting will introduce their business and knowledge in particular fields through stand displays, individual presentations and Question and Answer sessions,” Mr McAlister said.
“There will be 15 half-hourly presentation spots, the first commencing at 10.30am the last at 5.30pm on Wednesday 16 April in the Bega Showground Pavilion. Of particular interest to local business owners will be an informative presentation from Kris Laird of the Southern Region Business Enterprise Centre.
“There is a limit of 20 people per presentation and everyone will walk out with an action plan to use in and on their business. One-on-one business advice can also be booked.
“Kris will also provide information on future courses as soon as they are confirmed for our 18 months’ training calendar as well as a schedule of courses confirmed for the Bega Valley Shire and the Small Biz Connect Bus schedule.”
Mr McAlister said developing skills in financial management, productivity maximisation, communications, customer service and professional development was the key to making successful and competitive businesses.
“We’ are calling on business owners of any size to visit the skills expo and the plethora of business- related state and federal government organisations that have registered for the event,” he said.
