Enjoy all this and more on Sunday, January 26 at the Eden Sportsground from 10am.
Planning for the Owen Allan Australia Day Cricket competition is well progressed with at least seven teams entered.
In past years, the day has been a huge success and this year should be no different.
The local business-based teams compete in the eight-a-side format with each side playing two games and the two top teams playing off for the main prize – the historic Owen Allan cricket trophy dating back some 40 odd years.
Female players have their runs doubled while junior players are also welcome, earning the same privilege.
A soft indoor cricket ball is used and everyone bowls one over.
Charity will be the winner with the winning side choosing the recipient of a $500 donation from funds raised.
The Eden Services Social Club Incorporated (Essci) will be running the barbecue and the Eden Scouts, under the guidance of Akela Nev Cowgill, will conduct the flag raising ceremony.
Allan Gibson will give the Australia Day address.
Refreshments will also be available.
Teams nominated include Cheveux Hair Salon, Michelins Landscaping, The Big Dogs, Great Southern Inn, Cass’s Corner Store, Eden Kingfish, Spink Tiling and Curalo Medical Centre.
