It’s not too late to enter the Eden Cash draw by shopping locally and being present at the main stage tonight for draws at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm.
The famous Eden IGA Grocery Grab will see one lucky shopper race the clock to fill a trolley full of goods at 8.15pm.
The street will be filled with entertainment, market and food stalls – all surrounded by retailers who have dropped prices and extended trading hours for local shoppers.
Retailers like Melanie Warren (Eden Gas and Gear), Karen Lott (Sprout Eden), Sue Heffernan (Mark Anthony’s Surf Shop), Betty Buckland (Roswitha’s Delicatessen), Jo Williams (Sweet Shoes and Handbags) and Rhi Davis (Eden Pharmacy) have worked hard to make Christmas special.
They are pleased to introduce new events like Kidzone (next to Sweet Shoes and Handbags) and stage acts including a hooping demonstration by Krista Dodsworth and Christmas Carols with Santa.
It is not too late to enter the Eden Cash draw to win $1000, simply spend $5 at any of the 40 participating retailers, pop your name on a ticket and put it in the store’s specially marked box.
“It’s so amazing that 40 businesses have got behind this promotion this year,” Mrs Warren said.
“We’d love to see you on the night, even if all you buy is a hot coffee from a local café, every dollar helps to keep our local economy going.”
Mrs Warren said the retailers look forward to Eden’s late night shopping, a tradition that is one of the last in the shire to still close the main shopping precinct to cars.
“We are really looking forward to sharing Christmas with local families and we hope you take the time to enjoy some of our new events, especially Christmas carols with Santa,” she said.
“Santa will be very busy with family photographs until 8pm but then he will join Eden Sing on stage and I hear he has lots of lollies to share with the children!”
Kids can also burn off end of term energy at “KidZone”, a fun expo adjacent to Eden Retail Group member Jo Williams of Sweet Shoes and Handbags.
Inside you will find the Campbell Page puppet show, air tattoos, face painting, temporary hair colour and more – all supporting local sporting and community groups.
Also keep an eye out for the girls in blue from the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre, they will have lots of specimens to see and touch.
