In the latest report from Southern SNW Local Health District, Bega Valley recorded 58 new positive cases in the 24 hours to 8pm Thursday, January 6.
That's down from 89 the previous day and 80 in the 24 hours prior to that.
In the Eurobodalla, 19 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, the numbers there slowly dropping over recent days.
The Southern NSW Local Health District reported 355 new cases in the 24 hours to 8pm Thursday. That's up from the previous day's total of 322.
In addition to Bega Valley and Eurobodalla's figures, 24 are in the Snowy Monaro, 49 in the Yass Valley, 93 in the Queanbeyan Palerang, 91 in Goulburn Mulwaree, and 21 in the Upper Lachlan LGA.
There are currently 2019 active cases across the SNSWLHD. Of those, nine are in hospital, two in the ICU. Seventy-six active cases are in virtual care and there have been four deaths since June 2021.
Testing in the Bega Valley has temporarily relocated to the South East Regional Hospital due to heavy rains closing the road access near the Old Bega Racecourse.
As of last week, SNSWLHD announced it would not be reporting specific locations of positive cases given the increasing numbers involved.
A SNSWLHD spokesperson said most LHDs stopped reporting case towns/suburbs months ago, once case numbers increased.
"We have been able to keep reporting towns until a few days ago because of our low case numbers. Now that we have so many cases it is not possible to do that - there are too many towns to mention individually," the spokesperson told ACM.
"Given the high case numbers across all LGAs, there is no public health imperative to mention each town - it is now widespread."
