It's a big jump from the 11 reported the previous day.
In the Eurobodalla, 33 new cases were confirmed, up from eight the previous 24 hours.
Southern NSW Local Health District confirmed 345 new cases in the 24 hours to 8pm Tuesday, January 4.
As well as those in the Bega Valley and Eurobodalla Shires, they included 45 in Goulburn Mulwaree, 74 in Queanbeyan Palerang, 73 in the Snowy Monaro Region, 17 in the Upper Lachlan and 23 in the Yass Valley LGA.
The total across the district almost tripled the previous day's total of 124.
Despite the high number of confirmed cases, SNSWLHD reports only two people are in hospital due to COVID-19, while 86 others are in a "virtual care program", being looked after in their own residence.
There are 1445 active cases in the district.
As of last week, SNSWLHD announced it would not be reporting specific locations of positive cases given the increasing numbers involved.
A SNSWLHD spokesperson said most LHDs stopped reporting case towns/suburbs months ago, once case numbers increased.
"We have been able to keep reporting towns until a few days ago because of our low case numbers. Now that we have so many cases it is not possible to do that - there are too many towns to mention individually," the spokesperson told ACM.
"Given the high case numbers across all LGAs, there is no public health imperative to mention each town - it is now widespread."
