What do you like most about your job? As a Rural Support Worker with Eden Community Access Centre, I enjoy the collaborative nature of the position, focusing on the needs and aspirations of community members affected by the recent bushfires. Meeting a diverse range of people allows me to connect with good-hearted folk. It's not a solo effort. Being part of an encouraging team is important. Simple gratitude keeps us all going.
What do you like least about your job? There is not much I don't like about my job, but sometimes it can be sad to encounter assumptions and prejudices that can negatively affect others.
What's your favourite place in Eden and/or the Bega Valley? Almost anywhere in the bush away from traffic and shops, where I can hear the birds and experience nature regenerating.
If you won $1million what would you do first? Unlikely, because I am not a betting person but a good question! I would like to maximise the benefits which would probably mean investing in people's basic needs such as housing and education.
What is one thing you cannot live without? My family is precious but so also my Christian faith inspires my life and actions.
What are three words that describe Eden best Beautiful, community, home.
What do you think Eden needs the most as a community? To be connected across all levels of community regardless of aspects that could set people apart, like income, employment status, age or ability. We need to appreciate and celebrate our diversity as it is something that enriches all our lives. I would like to acknowledge all the people in the background who faithfully do their bit, there is a lot of hidden benevolence and effort that doesn't always get acknowledged.
