Anyone whose questioned themselves on their form or fitness in the water is encouraged to check out the Sapphire Coast Adult Swimming Club.

The Sapphire Aquatic Centre Pambula in conjunction with The Sapphire Coast Adult Swimming club now offers a special adult swimming squad each Friday afternoon at 5.30pm, starting December 3. This is to cater for the keen swimmer to drop in after a busy day to take part in a structured environment that delivers swim fitness and stroke improvement.

Created in 2017, organisers Bruce Williamson and Nick Hoynes are keen to help everyone.

"Have you ever thought 'I think my swim stroke could be better' or 'I just don't seem to improve in my swimming fitness'? Maybe what you need is an experienced eye and a guiding hand," Mr Williamson said.

"It could also be that you just want a regular gathering of like-minded souls to give you a reason to keep coming back. Regular swimming is fantastic for the adult body and mind."

These squad classes will cater to all levels of swimmer and will have dedicated lanes from beginner through intermediate and onto advanced. The hour-long sessions will be run by a qualified Masters Swimming Australia coach who is trained in adult swimming techniques.

"You don't have to be the competitive type to benefit from these sessions - it's more about improving fitness and stroke technique," Mr Williamson said.

"As we age it's important to have the correct stroke technique which will help to ward off unwanted injury. And it's also about just having some fun while you get that badly needed exercise."

The Adult Swimming Club is open to all comers over 18.

"We at times visit all the swim strokes because that way we work all the muscle groups of the body, but have no fear, we'll moderate the butterfly to only those who want it," Mr Williamson said.

"And if you're really keen you can also come along to our other sessions on Sunday and Tuesday mornings."

The Friday sessions start December 3 from 5.30 to 6.30pm.

Entry is free for Sapphire Coast Adult Swimming Club members, or $5 plus pool entry for non-members.

Entrants need a pair of goggles and some fins and kick board a recommended - for new starters the club has a limited supply of gear for temporary loan.
