The short nature of the Twenty 20 competition and the fact that some clubs are yet to play a game, make some of the round 3 matches crucial must win games for a couple of clubs that expected to feature in the finals on Saturday, December 18, at George Griffin Oval.
Round 2 saw only two Club Bega A Grade matches completed with Pambula absolutely routing the much fancied Eden side in Pambula. Eden just couldn't get going batting first and were all out for just 25 in 9.5 overs. Pambula made short work of the total getting the required runs inside 3 overs and getting a massive boost in their net run rate percentage. This result could have serious ramifications in the southern pool.
The only other Club Bega A Grade game that as completed on Saturday was another surprising result with dark horses Wolumla holding off Merimbula to win. Wolumla posted a competitive 7/97 and Merimbula fell agonizingly short completing their 20 overs at 8/92.
In the Campbell Petroleum Distributors B Grade competition all three matches were completed with Bega Angledale Liver's defeating a young Bermagui side who will get a lot out of batting through their 20 overs (5/56). The Liver's took 12 overs to pass the total in a strong all round display.
The Bega Angledale George's hosted Tathra and couldn't put enough runs on the board being dismissed for 48 in the 17th over. Tathra had a few nervous moments, but were never in any real danger of losing passing the total in drizzly rain in the 14th over.
Pambula B Grade were the victim of the Duckworth Lewis calculator and a committed Eden side. Pambula scored 106 including fine 46 from young gun Rory McAlpin from their 20 overs. A rain delay reduced Eden's total to 84 and they passed the score for the loss of 4 wickets.
