There is a new social event for seniors at the Tura Marrang Library, starting on Friday, November 5.

Words and Music is a fun, free and relaxed monthly program with book chat, musical performances and a delicious morning tea.

Organiser Natalie Martin-Remmert said each month everyone gets to take home and read a great book specially selected for the program.

"We then come together to discuss our likes, dislikes and interests about what we have read," Natalie said.

Each month's book, chat and music is themed but there's absolutely no pressure to read the book, Natalie explained, adding that people might want to share their own memories around the theme of the month.

"Don't worry if you don't finish the book, just come for the music and morning tea," Natalie said.

"It's a place to meet, talk and be entertained in a relaxed and safe environment."

Words and Music is at 10am Friday, November 5 and every first Friday of the month following. If you need assistance travelling to the library, free transport can be arranged.
