Southern bluefin tuna continue to excite game fishers with schools found all along the coast. Although patchy, the schools are easily identified by bird activity and a break up where the tuna are in a feeding frenzy.

Sometimes the tuna are just inside the Continental Shelf and at other times well out to sea. Don't be afraid of trolling out past the second drop off. Reports of Yellowfin Tuna from Ulladulla and out of Narooma are also exciting as the fish move southwards towards our waters.
Local whale sightings are common as the annual migration to Antarctica is now well under way. Try the new lookouts along the path to Tura Headland and at Long Point.
Members reported a lot of activity during windy weather with choppy seas.
Ocean flathead have come on the bite. A good place to start is 20 fathoms straight off Kianniny and the Tathra Hotel drifting with a paternoster rig. Good baits are pilchards and Australian salmon strips. To the south out of Merimbula there are good morwong and snapper at Long Point and especially at the northern side of Hunter Rock near Haycock point. Good size flathead, some gummy shark are also on the chew off Middle Beach just north of Long Point. Try 25 fathoms. Micro jigs well and also pilchard baits on a paternoster rig.
In the Pambula River dusky flathead, bream, tailor, trevally and Australian salmon remain on the bite. Dusky flathead, bream and trevally are all ready to jump onto soft plastics in the shallows and beside structures. Salmon are also about off our beaches, from Tathra down to Aslings. Best near the top of the run-in tide early morning and evening.
There are trevally, tailor, bream and dusky flathead in the Merimbula Top Lake. Fish the edges where structures help gather the fish. Soft plastics and pilchards work well.
Prawns are great for bream. Please only use bait shop bought prawns to stop spread of the white spot virus.
In the Bega River some lovely bream have been reported up from Thompsons and there are some lovely dusky flathead at Mogareeka.
