His goal is to ride 1500 kilometres and raise around $3000 in a month, to donate to the Children's Medical Research Institute.
Mr Reckord said he was inspired by local running legend, Dane Waites known for his 4000 km run from Perth to Pambula, to raise funds for autism awareness.
"I was captivated by Dane's epic run to Perth and since he did a lot of his training for that marvellous fundraiser for autism on Sapphire Coast Drive,
"It makes it even more appropriate raising funds for research to help the community," Mr Reckord said.
Mr Reckford is also part of a campaign to clean up the roads and will use his e-trike for both donations, while cleaning at the same time.
"When you're going across the Jellat flats, and you're looking at the view, with the mountains in the distance, it's just feels like really good physical activity," he said.
"By collecting litter along the way you also feel like you're making a contribution, and the next time I drive on the road, it feels clean and that's a very positive thing."
Mr Reckord said the other nice thing he started noticing was people he knew tooting the horn and giving a friendly wave to him.
"It connects me with Dane, because while he's running along the road, he gets friendly toots and beeps of the horn from motorists, and he kind of gives us a bit of a wave back."
"He enjoys that and it's a nice thing to be doing, feeling you're part of a great community," he said.
