Just before 4pm on Friday, Group 16 released a brief statement following a meeting that all matches in both senior and junior league would be pushed back.
"In addition to the effect the current public health order has had on the availability of players, volunteers and match officials the group executive is not comfortable with the potential health risk posed to our participants should games proceed this weekend. As such, all games across Group 16 minor and senior rugby league have been postponed for this weekend," the Group 16 secretary said.
"The executive will reconvene on Monday evening to discuss how the competition may proceed, pending advice from our governing body and NSW health."
The Far South Coast Football Association released a similar message, adding that a number of players or club officials had also been deemed close contacts and were isolating as per updated health orders.
The Eden Killer Whales and Wolumla Football Clubs both confirmed the decision on their respective Facebook pages around lunch time on Friday.
"The FSCFA has made the decision to cancel all games this weekend including tonight's matches due to the evolving Covid situation with a number of FSCFA players and officials isolating due to stay at home orders upon returning from Canberra," the statement from the Killer Whales reads.
"Hopefully this is just a precaution and we can get back to playing out the remainder of the season next weekend."
The Sapphire Coast AFL have not released a statement around a planned mega-round at Merimbula's Berrambool Oval on Saturday, with early indications the day is likely to go ahead.
Australian Community Media will update this article if a cancellation is made for the Australian Rules fixtures.
