Daphne Lister coordinates the not-for-profit gallery alongside Di Swane and Helen Hillier, and said there was much excitement about the new beginning.
"A lot of our regular customers came to enjoy the opening here on Sunday, and we have had great feedback," Daphne said.
"Many different items are on display and we will be open on weekends now."
The previous shopfront on Imlay Street which housed the gallery for almost 13 years had become unaffordable for the group of artists to manage, with a significant rent increase pushing them out of the premises in June.
Twenty-six exhibitors have now moved their works across to the new location, which has been provided to the not-for-profit gallery free of charge for 12 months by the owners of the establishment.
"Their generosity has been absolutely tremendous," Daphne said.
Although significantly smaller, the new space boasts excellent lighting and a much classier feel than the previous premises.
"It's a beautiful room, it has the feel of a quality gallery and gives a very good impression," Daphne said.
"Visitors here are more likely to be relaxed, have that holiday feel, it's a very different experience to being on the main street of town.
"It just goes to show, you never know - one door closes and another one opens," Daphne said.
The gallery is currently open Thursday-Monday each week from 11am-3pm, and will have additional opening days and longer opening hours throughout summer.
