Rita and Craig Palmer had been inspired by the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and in July last year were ecstatic to open up their dream store.

Adding extra special touches, Ms Palmer made a large Willy Wonka cut out and strived to get quality Wonka bars for her store to re-create the chocolate fantasy world.

Twelve months down the track, the newest additions at the One Stop Candy Shop include a popcorn machine, a slushy machine, a snow cone machine and a fairy floss machine.

Ms Palmer said their most recent addition is an old fashioned arcade machine, placed in the corner of the shop.

"It's got around 50 games to choose from, you can play Pac-man or Space Invaders," she said.

The new machine was installed a week ago and Ms Palmer hoped it would give people another reason to stop by.

Earlier this year, Ms Palmer brought the golden ticket fantasy to life by ordering in 200 Willy Wonka bars, with three golden tickets hidden among them.

Ms Palmer has since continued ordering in Wonka bars saying they are the most popular product in store.

"People come in and say 'oh is there really a golden ticket?', I show them the ticket so they see that it does exist and they get excited and buy some."

Ms Palmer noted that she hasn't had a lot of people come back in store to claim their prize and believes they might be keeping the tickets as souvenir.

She also thinks that several tickets may have been thrown away accidentally from people's excitement in ripping open the bar.

"You need to open it really slowly because the ticket is sitting on top of the chocolate, don't rip it," she said.

Just like the much-loved movie, the candy shop is likely to take you to a magical place with displays of lollies to make visitors nostalgic about old-time favourites.

Ms Palmer said the most popular old-time favourites have been the Scorched Peanut bars, the Choo Choo bars and the Dutch liquorice.

Rita imports as many novelty and old time favourite sweets as she can, bringing in original from around the world in an attempt to steer away from the standard lollies sold in chain stores.

Ms Palmer said she enjoys finding old-time favourites and seeing the reactions of the parents or grandparents when they come in with the kids.

"I like seeing them come in with their kids or grandkids and saying 'this is what I grew up with', it takes them down memory lane," Ms Palmer said.

One Stop Candy Shop can be found on the main street of Pambula, opposite Wild Rye's bakery.
