I've been part of the Eden SES unit since 2012, transferring down from an SES unit in Sydney, after making a 'tree change' to live away from the city.
What do you like most about your job?
I like working with the broad range of people who volunteer at Eden and helping them to learn new skills, or use the skills they bring to us. Even better, I like working with a team to help out when there are storms, or floods. I don't often get to go up on the roofs these days, but I love it when I do, or when I get to use the chainsaw - not a normal part of my previous working life, which was mostly in offices.
What do you like least about your job?
Filing the paperwork!
What's your favourite place in Eden and/or the Bega Valley?
Very difficult, because there are so many, but I have had some good times with my extended family around Haycock Point and the beach. We usually return there for a BBQ lunch when family visit.
If you won $1million what would you do first?
Get my extended family together somewhere for a holiday. With the COVID restrictions currently in place, money couldn't buy that right now anyway, so I guess I would consider how I could use the money to help family and some good causes.
What is one thing you cannot live without?
Fresh veggies.
What are three words that describe Eden best?
Beautiful wild coast.
What do you think Eden needs the most as a community?
I liked the idea I read recently discussing a community hall in Eden. I would also like to see some restaurants back at Snug Cove, where we often used to take visiting family and friends.
