I moved down from Sydney in 1969 thinking that I might stay for the year and I'm still here in 2021.
What do you like most about your job?
Every day is a different day.
What do you like least about your job?
Digging trenches and dealing with blocked sewers.
What's your favourite place in Eden and/or the Bega Valley?
I guess sitting on my front verandah looking at the water and the beach.
If you won $1million what would you do first?
I would offer help to our son and daughter and if possible I would also donate to some groups in town, such as Eden Service and Social Club Inc (ESSCI), who I volunteer with. Mainly our work is to provide service to the town. We have roughly 25 members and have been going for 23 years, we are always looking for new members. We are all getting older but we do as much as we can to help out around town and with events like the Whale Festival and Anzac Day.
What is one thing you cannot live without?
My family and friends and my Saturday afternoon therapy, which involves golf and a bit social indulgence.
What are three words that describe Eden best?
Beaches, nature, community.
What do you think Eden needs the most as a community?
Eden really needs a good sized hall to accommodate functions like the debutante ball, big town meetings and to bring townspeople together more regularly for all kinds of events. We also definitely need more employment options for the younger generation.
