Eden is hosting the Queanbeyan Kangaroos in a pre-season trial match at George Brown Oval.
With the 2020 Group 16 season cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Eden league supporters have been starved for local action.
Sheldon Wykes of the Tigers club committee said Saturday evening was an ideal opportunity for fans to head along and see the makings of what should be a very exciting season.
While it should see the return of some experienced heads to the paddock, the trial game will also give the side an opportunity to test new legs.
"It's a very young side and there are four or five new players to the club we haven't seen play yet," Wykes said.
"It will be interesting to see where they fit in the side and Matt Bell the coach will look to move the positions around to see how they all suit the flow of our play."
Wykes said Eden hadn't had trial games for several years and, coupled with last season's shutdown, the Tigers were roaring to get back out playing.
This weekend's pre-season game came about thanks to multi-premiership winning player and Eden life member Neil Baker, he added.
"Neil's brother is the president of the Queanbeyan Kangaroos," Wykes said.
"We were scheduled to play a pre-season trial against a Newcastle side but that fell through, so at the last minute Neil and his brother were able to work out a way for them to bring a side down."
Head along to George Brown Oval this Saturday, March 6. Ladies league tag will get underway from 5pm and then the men's game kicks off at 6pm..
Meanwhile, Bega Roosters hosted their own trial match last Saturday when the North Canberra Bears paid a visit.
It was an entertaining game with plenty of speed on show from both sides.
Bega was first to open the scoring through Hank Kennedy only five minutes in, but the Bears soon levelled the scoreboard in an evenly shared first half.
For the second half, both sides continued the end-to-end tussle, each denying tries to their opponents on several occasions.
Bega was the first to break through after good team play led to Zac Cuzner being able to find the line with his elusive running.
Then Todd Ingram made good ground to give Kennedy his second try for the game, scoring under the posts.
Bega ran on a couple of reserves from last year's under 18s and looked impressive in their 18-6 victory.
Following the men's game the league tag was a tough contest with some great footy between the Bega Chicks and North Canberra visitors.
In a game that couldn't be split, they finished 4-4.
