Officials said the wind direction spun more than 500 degrees across the two races averaging four knots and peaking at seven, while also intermittently dropping.

Officials said it made for a weird challenge to master the winds with "downwind" legs hard to fathom.

At times it seemed all boats were pointing in different directions. It was great to be on the water tuning up our light wind skills. We had plenty of time as race 1 was a 2 1/2 hour marathon, and though race 2 was a shorter course, it still took 1 1/2 hours, with the fleet sitting on glass at the final mark.

Well done Todd and Tiller Helton, father and daughter team, winning both races on their NS14 "Whistling Kite"

Rob Morton 2nd in race 1, Gote Vikstrom 3rd.
