As a community, the Far South Coast of NSW has been hit hard over the years with loss of local industries, drought, the direct impact of bushfires and now the COVID-19 pandemic.
A school representative said via a GIVIT appeal online, "We are responsible for preparing students for the rapidly-changing world, where technology plays a critical role in their future.
"For this to be achieved student access to a laptop at school and at home is vital to reaching full potential in all learning areas.
"Our students are loyal, vivacious, have a great work ethic.
"However, the continuity of their learning is significantly disrupted when students are unable to access the resources they need because they don't have a laptop," the school representative said.
In total, 230 laptops are being sought, with the following specifications:
- Base model (Stage 4 & 5)
- Processor I3, 4GB Ram, hard drive 250GB (SSD for best performance) 8-hour battery capacity, WiFi dual band 802.11N
- Advanced Model (Stage 6)
- Processor I5, hard drive 500Gb (SSD for best performance), 8-hour battery capacity, WiFi Dual band 802.11N
"Students at our school would welcome the privilege of receiving a device to support their learning and would be grateful of the kindness of others," the school representative said.
"For many students who have experienced hardship this would be a life-changing gift for now and the future."
100 percent of funds received will go directly towards the project and donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
Those wishing to assist can pledge to donate or purchase an item online and will then be connected to the high school to coordinate delivery if applicable.
