A 20-year-old man accused of starting several fires around Bega has had his case committed to trial in the district court.
Blake William Banner, a former volunteer firefighter from Tarraganda, maintained his pleas of not guilty to seven counts of intentionally causing fires and being reckless to their spread when he appeared in Bega Local Court on Tuesday, September 15.
He is accused of starting fires between Bega and Doctor George Mountain Rd in October and November 2019.
Mr Banner appeared in court wearing a fluoro orange and black jumper, but apologised for his attire through his solicitor Jennifer Chalker as she said he had attended court straight from work.
Magistrate Doug Dick confirmed pleas of not guilty were maintained to all seven charges and committed Mr Banner to stand trial in Bega District Court, telling Mr Banner "the matter is moving on".
Mr Banner did not speak during his court appearance.
The matter was adjourned for call over to September 20 and bail was set to continue.
