The owner of LR Designs is a graphic designer originally from rural New South Wales but is taking her message of unique country and western designs and photography to north-west Queensland.

"I grew up on the land in New South Wales all my life, on a sheep and cattle property. I have a Bachelor in Graphic Design and worked as a designer in Sydney, but much prefer the country life," Ms Reeves said.

"I decided to move up to Richmond about a year ago to live the station life, working for a wonderful family, as a governess."

"I love working with the kids and still being able to get involved with the mustering and cattle work, while doing design work on the side when I can."

She said she had always done freelance work where ever she was and her business LR Designs does anything from logos, business cards and signs to custom illustrations and skull paintings.

It was that latter skill that caught the eye of Richmond Shire Council which helped her put together a skull painting workshop, an unusual pastime she learned from her early days.

"While working on the sheep and cattle property back home I saw the opportunity to do something with the skulls I found in the paddocks," she said.

"I've always loved working with hand-based materials and was keen to work with a medium I'd never used before".

Ms Reeves said she knew it was something different that would catch people's attention.

"Skulls really interest me and I love how different each one is," she said. "There is a small market for it but its not always about the money making either."

Ms Reeves said skull painting was different to painting on canvas or paper.

"Skulls have detailed shape and every single skull is different to each other," she said. "You have to work with their characteristics."
