Cr Bain said that she would personally get the sample, which came from one of the affected residents' cars, to a Canberra laboratory for testing and analysis.
"At the moment let's find out what this is and what's in it," she said.
Residents say the dust which was apparent during roadworks around Mitchell and Calle Calle Streets in early June, has affected their cars, solar panels and roofs. Residents are concerned that the dust is corrosive and say damage has already been caused to homes and vehicles.
Cr Bain is concerned that residents are not getting any traction from council or the contractor responsible for the roadworks, Stabilco.
Dust nuisance - hydrated lime can cause a dust problem, even with very light winds. Its use in urban or windy areas should be minimised.

"Council staff have met with these people and on two occasions have said they are not accepting liability," Cr Bain said.
"I met with the residents yesterday and nearly all of them have received advice from their insurance companies to say they are not covered because it is a third party matter," Cr Bain said.
In the meantime though Cr Bain has uncovered the latest version of the Austroads Guide to Pavement Technolgy (2019) which discusses lime use in roadworks. Austroads is the collective of the Australian and New Zealand transport agencies, representing all levels of government.
In the technology guide Austroads states: "Dust nuisance - hydrated lime can cause a dust problem, even with very light winds. Its use in urban or windy areas should be minimised."
Residents said machines were on site over three days producing "lime plumes".
Some residents have had to have their cars cleaned professionally costing up to $500-600. However while that may have removed the corrosive dust, there is evidence of further damage with "peeling" to the surface of at least one vehicle.
Cr Bain has asked council for a report on the lime dust and roadworks in Eden.
