Representatives from Eden, Merimbula, Bega and Bermagui's respective VIC operators on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding to define a newly formed collaborative working relationship between the organisations.
Spokesperson for the group Chris Nicholls, tourism manager at the Merimbula VIC, said the MOU was also "a determination to minimise duplication of effort, and maximise the benefits for effort and resources invested through joint funding and financial support submissions".
"It's a win-win for the Bega Valley Shire and tourism!
"Our accredited visitor information centres showcase our region's unique offerings and experiences, and encourage visitors to spend more time in our region, with skillful sales and advice often leading to longer stays and greater expenditure.
"Tourism Research Australia conducted research in South Australia in 2017 and determined that visitors to an AVIC were likely to spend an additional $181 per person because of their visit to the centre. In the Bega Valley Shire that represents about $20million additional spending annually."
