Speed limits will change on Mount Darragh Road and will be reduced at various points between South Pambula and Cathcart from Tuesday, June 16. While some residents may agree with the changes there are plenty who have reacted angrily to the news.

Transport for NSW Regional Director Southern, Jo Parrott said the organisation was committed to providing safer journeys for motorists along rural roads, including Mount Darragh Road.
"The speed limit for Mount Darragh Road was reviewed after concerns raised by residents about the high crash rate in the area," she said.
But residents believe there has been little consultation and a misunderstanding of what has caused some of the accidents. In September 2019 acting secretary of the Wyndham Progress Association Bob Hunt wrote to MP Christopher Gulaptis, the Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads and Infrastructure.
While admitting that certain sections of the road did have a poor crash history, Mr Hunt said that lowering the speed limit on sections where there was open road wasn't the answer.
"There's several sections of good road. It's about the frustration for the daily users; it's an over reaction and a misunderstanding of what caused those crashes," Mr Hunt said.
It took six months for Mr Gulaptis to reply saying that community comments would be taken into consideration.
Ms Parrott said steps had been taken to make the road safer through shoulder widening and installing safety barriers, with speed limit reductions being the next step in delivering a safer road for all motorists.
"The speed zone review assessed a number of factors including the crash history, road alignment, road environment and hazards, road usage, adjacent development, traffic volumes and the number of access points along the road," she said.
"Journey times are expected to be similar to existing timeframes as motorists will be able to travel at a speed more consistent with the surrounding environment," Ms Parrott said.
"I guess we will have to get used to it but the rationale is wrong," Mr Hunt said.
Speed limit reductions include;
- 100km/h to 80km/h from South Pambula to Chalk Hills Road (7 kilometres)
- 100km/h to 60km/h from Chalk Hills Road to 4 km west of Chalk Hills Road (4 kilometres)
- 100km/h to 80km/h between 4km west of Chalk Hills Road to 320m east of Clarke Street, Wyndham (10.7 kilometres)
- 100km/h to 80km/h from West Street to 1.5km west of New Buildings Road, Wyndham (3.1 kilometres)
- 100km/h to 60km/h from 1.5km west of New Buildings Road to 900m west of Stoves Road, Mount Darragh (20 kilometres)
