Better fire control
Fuel reduction and fire breaks - we need these for better fire control. So many native animals dead and homes destroyed. The bush here was a mess before fires. The animals had no hope of survival. Keep it neat. Keep it tidy. Keep it safe. Firefighters had a horrific time. Keep it safe for them too. We need common sense to shine through.

Curalo grass a mess
I use the walking track and boardwalk by Lake Curalo at least twice a day. The grass by this walk and the walk from the boardwalk to the Scout hall has not been cut in about a month. I have reported this to the council on several occasions and keep being told that it will be next week.
The grass is now well over knee high in places. If the council intends to bale this grass and provide it to farmers having problems feeding their stock I am all for it, but if the difficulty managing this maintenance is a consequence of a change in the grass cutting system or schedule then it is not working. The previous schedule worked very well. I have seen two snakes come out of the grass in the last two weeks and the snakes are not visible until they are on the footpath. Children play and ride their bikes here.

Can you host a caravan?
We, the Sydney Caravan Club, are a group of senior citizens who like the outdoors. We have self-contained caravans or motor campers and are always looking for farms or properties that we can get together on within 200km of Sydney.
After the terrible bushfires, perhaps there is a property owner out there who will allow us to get together on their site over the weekend. We do not need anything provided, but if the shed were available, that would be a bonus. We will leave your site with tyre tracks only, nothing else.
If you could see your way clear to allow us onto your property, please call the secretary 0422 023 332. A mutually agreeable fee can be decided on and, of course, we have public liability insurance cover.

State of beach
I am a proud resident of Pambula Beach and usually walk the beach with my dog daily. During these walks I have many conversations with visitors and the sad news, like us locals, they are devastated by the condition of the beach - many of these people have young children who cannot play because of the seaweed and ash covering great areas abutting the caravan park make it impossible and unsafe. We are supposed to be encouraging visitors not sending them away with negative experiences. When will the council do something about this? Easter will soon be on us!

Losing our connections
A musing. Why are supermarket shelves emptying?
Perhaps the pandemic hysteria is really all about losing connection and freedom to move freely in our society, to gather, travel, hug, kiss and have nurturing human contact.
The bonds of community so vital during and after these recent bushfires hold us steady and help each of us find our way forward with resilience and empathy.
The corona megavirus isolates individuals, denies contact and creates paranoia and fear in communities that have just been through a hyper-vigilant state of terror.
We cannot bear to be alone.
Perhaps "retail therapy" offers some bizarre sense of security and self soothing. I'll be right as long as I have my toilet paper.
