BOOGIE WOOGIE: Jan Preston will perform A Tribute to Winifred Atwell.

On Thursday, February 20 at Club Sapphire in Merimbula, the Down South Jazz Club will bring back the very popular boogie woogie pianist Jan Preston with A Tribute to Winifred Atwell, featuring many of the most popular and well-known tunes of Atwell.

She will be accompanied by her husband Mike Pullman, whose drumming complements her superbly.

Preston grew up in an era where people would gather around the piano and sing together and it was at that time, having an aunt who played honky tonk style, that she was introduced to the music of Atwell.

Now known as "Australia's Queen of Boogie Piano", she has a reputation as an astonishing piano player with a rich resonant voice who is a magnetic live performer.

She captivates, moves and uplifts audiences around the world with her original songs, compositions and her mastery of boogie woogie.

Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for visitors with music starting at 7.30pm.
