Nippers from Batemans Bay, Broulee, Moruya, Narooma, Bermagui, Tathra and Pambula Surf Life Saving Clubs came together to compete in beach and water events.
From under-8s to under-14s, each event was packed with keen future lifesavers. The three-four foot swell turned choppy as the north-easterly wind picked up.
Carnival official Andrew Holt said the conditions were most challenging for young ones. "Water safety assisted some of the little tackers who gave it real good go," Holt said.
The high tide meant a longer course was set beyond the break.
"There were heaps of kids, it was a real solid turnout with all ages," Holt said.
"Broulee did an excellent job of hosting the carnival.
"I was really impressed with the amount of cadets from every club who came and helped out as water safety."
Holt reminded surf club members aged 14-19 to keep an eye out for information on the next non-competitive youth carnival to be held in Pambula in mid-January.
"It's a non-competitive carnival and plenty of fun, information will be sent out after Christmas," he said.
