Damon, 15, is a well respected young player out of the Merimbula camp with experience in representative fixtures for Eden Marine High as well as the Far South Coast Stingrays rep squad and a stint with the GWS Development squad.
Now he has been invited to take part in the Wanderers Tour for under 15s and 16s in an International Rules football tour as part of the Australian squad.
Proud Mum Sandra Moscarda said that Damon would be among just 46 boys picked nation-wide to travel and compete in as many as eight representative gaelic and Aussie rules games throughout Ireland and England. The squad will also get the chance to tour France and visit some historic sites around Europe.
"This is an opportunity of a lifetime for Damon," Ms Moscarda said. Ms Moscarda said her son was also an avid officiator of the game, serving as a member of the AFL Coast Umpires Association, where this year he was awarded the Silver Whistle.
On the field, he was named Best and Fairest and leading goal kicker for the Diggers, while also winning the SCAFL Dominos Hot Shot of the Year award.
"We would like to thank Sapphire Coast Arts and Sports Youth Development for their support and funding, also to Jake Closter from Real Health Coaching and Personal Training," Ms Moscarda said.
Ms Moscarda said the excitement was continuing to build for Damon as the tour dates crept ever closer and wished her son luck for the competition.
