The Whale Festival is good ole Eden town's biggest annual event - bigger than a blue whale. Join the official opening at the Eden Killer Whale Museum on Friday at 1.30pm to be treated to the sounds of the Eden singers. Stay for afternoon tea and mosey around the museum to learn about Eden's unbelievable whaling history. At 5.30pm head to the launch of the Wheeler's Exhibition Centre for live music, drinks and to taste delicious local oysters. On Saturday, the mad-hatter themed street parade will see the whole town promenade down the main street in a hot rod, log truck or whatever floats their boat. There will be plenty of action - wood chopping, chainsaw sculptures, live entertainment, seafood cooking demonstrations, oyster shucking competitions and stacks of team events. Keep your eyes open for the Australian Kite Flying Society's Kite display and the Seafood Showcase. Don't miss the spectacular fireworks at 9pm. Highland Valley Forage
Kangaroo Valley, November 2
The Highland Valley Forage in Kangaroo Valley will tell the story, through food and wine, of how the Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven and Coast South of Sydney are connected. By tapping into the culinary skills of three local gastronomic favourites; Mark Olive, Nick Gardiner at Hampden Deli, Dining and School and the team at Birch-Moss Vale, this will be no ordinary eight course degustation lunch. It is going to be a spectacular day of food, wine and nature from 10am-6pm. Their forage is a degustation meal enjoyed as you leisurely stroll along on a flat, beginners walk and take in the natural beauty of Morton National Park and the spring wildflowers in bloom. Parking is at Osborne Park Showground in Kangaroo Valley with a bus ride to and from the walk - all part of the ticket price. To visit the website, click here.
Spring Festival
Barragga Bay, November 3
The finale for Four Winds' Spring Festival will be a day of music and dance; contemporary and orchestral musicians combined with dancers, singer-songwriters and individual classical musicians. A highlight will be a new dance piece created specifically for the Four Winds site. Encounter South is an exploration into the everyday extra-ordinariness and power of young people living on the South Coast and Western Sydney. Also, from singer-songwriters to classical soloists, young people are going to inspire you with their performance in the Windsong Pavilion on the day. The festival is from 10am to 2pm at Four Winds.
