The Triumph Car Clubs of ACT and Victoria gathered at the Seahorse INn, Boydtown for lunch on Friday before setting out on a Valley-wide tourist jaunt.
Co-organisers of the rally Anthony Ockwell and Rick Wade said the group chose the Sapphire Coast for their annual rally because of last year's Tathra Bushfires.
"We have an annual rally with our Victorian colleagues and this year chose Merimbula following the Tathra bushfires," Mr Ockwell said.
"We felt this was a good opportunity to bring the team down here, try to raise awareness of this region and also to help this region's economy as much as we could."
While the 80-odd participants in around 40 vintage Triumph cars were based in Merimbula, they took in plenty of the surrounds with whale watching, Oaklands, Tathra Hotel, Bega Cheese Heritage Centre and the Tilba Valley Winery.
They were also planning to catch up with members of the Sapphire Coast Historic Vehicle Club for a friendly afternoon tea and no doubt swapping of tales from the road.
"It should be a real treat," Mr Ockwell said.
Mr Ockwell and Mr Wade were enthusiastic about their Triumphs and the British manufacturer's commitment to quality performance, and fuel economy.
"The interesting thing about the Stag is the V8 overhead cam three-litre engine," Mr Wade said.
"Stags that have survived are in good nick and are good performance cars."
