The first-ever Bega Valley Synth Festival run by the Synth Surfers will come to the region this month and features workshops and a concert.

Held over the day and night of Saturday, October 19 it will take place at the Murrah Hall.
Immerse yourself in a night of eclectic electronica from 7pm at an concert called Oscillations, where interstate and local musicians will perform live mainly utilising synthesisers, but will also feature modified toy instruments and a trumpet, followed by DJs playing until late.
The extensive line-up for the evening includes the melodic dance/ambient music from Vitals, electronic dance musician Myst Mach, Abre Ojos who will take you on an audiovisual journey into other dimensions and DJ HedgeZeppelin who will play until late.
Preceding this, from 10am-4pm there will be displays from manufacturers, musicians and collectors along with demonstrations and talks of how to get started, how to control your lasers from a synthesiser and even how to build your own.
Starting from 10am, there will be a number of workshops covering aspects of using synthesisers, including Ableton Live, building your own synthesiser using electronics and how to get started with a free modular synthesiser software.
Also, artist Rodney Berry will be running a workshop called Littlebits which will utilise a range of kid-friendly technology to create things that make sound and flash lights.
This workshop is suitable for ages eight and up as long as they are accompanied by a parent.
