Unveiled on Saturday, the two stands hold the names of two of the town's Australian rules football club's legends of the game - Alex Chomatek and Paul "Plugger" Kirkby.

The Alex Chomatek Stand hosts memorials for former players Geoff Munday and Ryan Chester, who was tragically killed in a car crash in 2008.

Ryan's twin brother Heath was in Eden on Saturday as the town hosted visiting teams from across the region.

"He would probably be thinking why do I deserve to be there," Mr Chester said with a laugh.

Both brothers played on ball together, with Heath admitting his brother was probably the better player of the two.

"He was a left-footer, hard at the ball and he also played soccer and rugby for Eden," Mr Chester said.

The Paul "Plugger" Kirkby holds memorials for Dennis Luobikis, Mick Kirkby and Fred Dawson.

Eden Whalers stalwart Shane Crowe said volunteers were working until 8pm on Friday night finishing the stands for the weekend's football.

He said many present and past players have connections with the names immortalised on the stands.

"I've played with most of them, or involved with them through the footy club," he said.

"Acora have really helped out, with their staff working for free.

"I think it will be really good for the whole community. They hold lots of events here, and the high school next door uses it for lots of sports."

He said the club will soon be renovating the club rooms, with the design still in the planning.
