The award is presented annually to a secondary school principal who has shown outstanding achievement in schools.
Mr Bell, a Wiradjuri man from the Central NSW district, won the award for outstanding leadership in developing the Secondary Principals' Council Aboriginal Education Position Paper.
Mr Bell has been teaching for more years than he is willing to own, specialising in Drama and English. He has worked in three schools as a deputy principal, and has been a principal for 16 years, most recently at Eden Marine High School, where he accepted the position in July 2018. Prior to that he was the principal at Monaro High School.
