There were even reports of snow falling and settling briefly at Nimmitabel and Delegate on the Monaro.
Bega's official temperature bottomed out at 4C at 6.10am Monday, but with the wind chill taken into account Weatherzone reported a "feels like" temperature of 0.3C
Gusty winds throughout the day kept residents "feeling" temperatures hovering around 6-8C, while the official recordings were closer to 14-15C.
Higher up at Bombala, the mercury dipped overnight to a low of 0.4C (4am) before reaching a top of only 7.7C (1.50pm) fuelled - if that's the right word to use in the circumstances - by winds of 40-50kmh gusting up to 74kmh.
At Nimmitabel, the mercury didn't even reach 7C for the day, with the wind chill keeping locals rugged up in sub-zero conditions.
Temperatures are expected to remain low across the region through the week.
Maximums of 16C and minimums of 4C are the order of the day for Bega through until Friday when it ekes up to 18-19C.
At Bombala, Tuesday's forecast is for an overnight low of 0C before a windy day and top temperature of 11C. On Thursday it's heading lower for a -1C to 7C range.
For Merimbula, the week looks a little kinder, with top temperatures of 17-18C predicted.
