It was a busy weekend at Bombala Golf Club as they hosted the Open Tournament. A spokesperson for the club said the weather was absolutely perfect for the first time in many years and both the ladies and men had great days.

"The fields on both days were the best we have had in years, maybe having carts for hire is encouraging the older players to our hard course.
"Players were treated to a great lunch provided by the clubs' hard working girls in the kitchen, a couple of long days for them but greatly appreciated by all the players.
"There were great trophies to be won, if you were good enough and we sincerely thank our generous sponsors for their support of our tournament, without them we would be struggling to hold a successful tournament," the spokesperson said.
The ladies had 40 players, 38 of which were veterans. The results of are as follows:

Saturday Afternoon the men played a Foursomes. There were 11 pairs hitting off after the ladies crossed over. There was a rush to beat the dark, a couple of pairs decided didn't complete the 18 holes.
The winners were John and Cecil Miller with 75.5 nett from Joel Cherry and Col Gronow 76 nett.
Balls were won by Joel and Col, Rub and Westy 77 nett and Greg Lasker and Ray Crawford 78 nett.
Sunday the Men were hit with a thick fog delaying play for nearly an hour, it was impossible to see down the fairways. There we 54 players looking out the windows watching to see the sun poke through. It was a beautiful day when the fog lifted.
The Open Champion was won by Philip Ingram from the Cooma Club but Bombala claims him as ours. A local boy who started at a young age due to having keen golfing parents. Philip came in with 75. Hot on his heels were Korie Elton, Nick Ryan and Joel Cherry 76. All local lads.
