A crowd of around 1000 people joined the near-200 who took part in the march for the service, which was widely regarded as being one of the best attended services ever in the area.
Apart from some unfortunate aerial interference and two young people fainting, the service was steeped in reverence for the service men and women from the creation of the ANZACs through to those still in service today.
A number of touching stories were shared and dozens of wreaths were laid at the memorial, while the catafalque party formed a guard of honour.
