Fisher's songwriting has many influences, having spent his younger years in the US surrounded by many cultures and musical genres, the blues engulfing him in those early years and is evident on some tracks of his album namely 2 Hours From Chicago a bio of sorts documenting those years in Lafayette, Indiana.
Growing up on the South Coast performing in his high school band Mistaken Identity included the highlight of winning Battle of the Bands and supporting Midnight Oil.
In later years performing on the far North Coast and collaborating with The Love Bus, Fisher developed a unique style of storytelling through his songs.
The jazz influences his mother introduced him to are evident on tracks such as Love I Need and Little Blackbird, a duet with Masliah. Power ballads True and Brunswick St can be likened to artists Billy Joel, Elton John and Bruce Springsteen.
Rain, a tribute to his late father, and Beautiful Girl, Smile, Walk the Walk, Love the way you.... and Tommy's Window are also personal compositions taking the listener on a journey through the emotional paths of happiness, love, lust, loss and loneliness.
Fisher's many different genres and multi-instrumental talents have taken his original compositions as Red Heart Blue to many Australian blues/jazz and country/folk festivals around the country. Fisher and Masliah are endeavouring to take it a step further, embarking on a overseas tour in next year or so.
They will be showcasing the new material on Saturday, April 27, on the main stage situated in a beautiful field behind the Candelo Hotel at high noon!
Head along and join in the first of many album launch parties around the country! Bring a picnic blanket, lunch and your festival vibe and enjoy Jackson Fisher's debut album, featuring his "original songs only" performed live with Red Heart Blue.
Red Heart Blue also features Chris Ralfs on bass, Ben Smith on drums and Steve Faggotter on guitar.
