Bega valley's first ever Rainbow Wave festival kicked off in true Mardi - Gras style. There was glitter, gold, fabulous outfits, feathers and drag queen deevas.

The LGBTI festival held at Oaklands function centre  on Saturday, April 13 started with a bang with local band Bournda Rock pumping out the tunes to the all- ages crowd.

Heidi Sharples showed off her sparkle with some beautiful acoustic sounds while people mingled around the information stalls on offer.

The youth driven festival was all about inclusiveness and that was exactly the vibe that was filling the air in the rainbow flag clad centre. A huge crowd of people from all ages gathered together to join in and celebrate and support the LGBTI youth community.

There was loads for the under age festival goers including make up, hula hoops, sideshow alley spectaculars, you could even get a peek into the original Priscilla Bus.

Check out a small sneak peek at some of the action that kicked off the festivities.
